  9. 2011

    DuPont

DuPont Safety Awards, Innovation in Safety

For: A behavior change program based on neuro-psychological research. This was the first external recognition of the approach, awarded for work at a UK power station that demonstrated how understanding the psychology of perception and attention could reduce risk in operational settings.

What These Awards Have In Common

Every award on this page was given for translating science into practical, easy to use solutions.

The earliest (DuPont, 2011) recognized a behavior change program at a single power station. The most recent (IIRSM, 2026) recognized a statistically evaluated training program at a global technology company. The progression reflects the evolution of the work itself: from applying psychology to individual behavior, through building scalable human performance programs at BP, to developing the tools and methodology that became Learning from Normal Work.
